The General Hospitable training video is an engaging program that shows each member of your staff how easy and satisfying it can be to turn up their level of care.

Comprised of seven mini-episodes, General Hospitable depicts a "day-in-the-life" of a hospital patient beginning with her admission, and continuing on through her discharge. At each stage, viewers first see somewhat lackluster interactions between patient and health professionals, followed by actively caring ones -- a juxtaposition that neatly drives home what an enormous difference a shift in focus can mean to patient and staff alike.

With the General Hospitable training video, healthcare staff members will learn customer service tips they can put to use immediately. But more than gaining specific skills, participants will be provided with a vision of what their facility can be when everyone sets their sights on consistently delivering top quality care to patients.

This film kept and maintained my attention. I liked the contrast between average (or poor) interactions between healthcare professionals and patients, and active, caring patient-focused interactions. The vignettes are dramatic but not overplayed even though a soap opera is the theme. The video discussion clips at the end of the film add additional training value to an already good film.

    PROS
  • Replays of patient interactions strongly reinforce the service-focused learning points.
  • Video discussion clips at the end of the film offer excellent questions and opportunities to explore specific service issues.
  • Narrator is believable and easy to trust.
    CONS
  • The ending is silly and takes away from the film.

I liked the fact that the examples shown were set in a hospital. I liked the way they showed the wrong way then the right way. The styles were up to date. The scenarios believable.
