PROGRAM 1: Change and Leadership
This film offers solid information about change for any type of business leader. However, the film is essentially a videotaped training forum, which puts the viewer in an even more passive role than usual. I found it difficult to stay focused. I think the film can be a catalyst for engaging discussion and organizational assessments though.
PROS- Good information about paradigms and the necessity for change to help ensure success.
- Joel Barker is credible and interjects comments throughout, which adds interest.
CONS- Lecture-format makes the film feel longer than it is.
- Watching a training session removes the viewer even more from the training.
PROGRAM II: The Paradigm Effect
There's no question in my mind that Joel Barker is the expert on paradigms and the impact they have on organizations. This film is full of his insights and his discussion and examples support the learning points. However, sustaining interest in a videotaped training forum, even if it's captivating in person, may be challenging for some viewers.
PROS- Interesting examples and discussion.
CONS- Many of the points outlined in this film are presented in a much more engaging manner in Joel Barker's The New Business of Paradigms.
PROGRAM V: The Paradigm Curve
In the final part of the Paradigm Mastery Series, Joel Barker offers practical advice for leaders to help assess the operating paradigms in their workplace. Although some viewers may find watching a videotaped retreat challenging, the discussion points are insightful and thought-provoking.
PROS- Joel Barker offers practical questions to get viewers thinking about their paradigms.
CONS- Too long.
- Format doesn't adequately engage the viewer.
