Rather than establishing what had happened and taking action to put it right, the officer makes a series of clumsy attempts to discipline the assistant - including telling him off in front of junior colleagues, failing to agree on what had gone wrong and criticizing them personally. Learning how to handle the situation correctly means understanding how the problem arose, and the assistant is able to suggest a means of avoiding such mistakes in the future.

Skills are practical and well illustrated in believable work settings. I found that the video took too long to get to the learning points, however, and as a result, it felt like it dragged a bit.

I have shown this video to our staff and management several times over the past few years. It showcases beautifully how a manager's responses affect performance throughout the organization. It is one of our best beloved training films.
