What one employee may consider sexual harassment, another may find perfectly acceptable. Both men and women can be and are victims of hostile work environments and subtle Quid Pro Quo behavior. What can be done?

This 2 Part Series is intended to take the titillation out of sexual harassment training and allow employees to go beyond the obvious cases most of us already recognize as wrong. In so doing, we open our eyes and minds to the more subtle aspects and impacts of our own behavior.

Program I: The Issue is Respect - 28:00 minutes

"The Issue is Respect" training video presents a strong message on the legal and social issues of harassment including dating in the organization, relationships with supervisors, hostile work environments and non-traditional work environments. The subtle issues of "gray" areas are also discussed and supported by expert commentary.

Program II: Management's New Responsibility - 28:00 minutes

In the "Management's New Responsibility" training video, you will find a more detailed study of the legal liability issues, proper procedures for handling complaints and how supervisors can eliminate harassment from their work environment. As with Program I, this video presents insightful scenarios, supported by expert commentary.

Program I: The Issue is Respect

I found it difficult to keep focused during this film. Even though it clearly defines sexual harassment, both quid pro quo and hostile work environment, the lecture style is tough to watch. The dramatizations, although a bit overacted, work well to illustrate the learning points but they don't occur often enough to keep a viewer's attention.

    PROS
  • Clearly defines harassment.
  • Experts are believable.
    CONS
  • Too long.
  • A bit dated.

Program II: Management's New Responsibility

Like the first part of this series, this film didn't hold my attention. Although it offers good, solid information about sexual harassment and a manager's responsibility, there's too much talking. The dramatizations are insightful and the expert commentary supports the learning, but the film is too long and the first few minutes show how dated it is.

    PROS
  • Clearly defines sexual harassment and a manager's responsibility.
  • Dramatizations offer good points for discussion.
    CONS
  • Too much talking.
  • Too long.
  • Dated.
