Asbestos Awareness: Controlling Exposure
Program length: 23:00

Asbestos exposure poses serious health risks and is commonly found in work environments nationwide. Asbestos Awareness: Controlling Exposure is designed to provide an overview of asbestos and the health hazards associated with exposure. Asbestos can be found in many different products and places. Examples of products that might contain asbestos are:

  • Different types of insulation
  • Ceiling and floor tiles
  • Putties, caulks and cements
  • Roofing materials
  • Brake linings and clutch pads

The most common way asbestos fibers enter into the body is through inhalation or ingestion. Asbestos can crumble easily and release harmful fibers into the air which can be inhaled. These fibers can pose serious health risks because the fibers can become trapped in the lungs or the digestive tract. Asbestos Awareness: Controlling Exposure demonstrates safe work practices and engineering controls designed to keep you and your employees safe by minimizing the chance of exposure.
