Michael Dell is the founder and CEO of Dell, one of the world's largest sellers of personal computers. In 1984, Dell was the first computer manufacturer to sell directly to the consumer when computers were expensive but students wanted them. He established the “build to order” model, benefiting from the difference between the computer parts and fully built computer. Storage costs were also kept low because parts weren't needed until they were ordered.

Dell was also quick to launch one of the first Ecommerce sites, which catapulted his sales through a new distribution channel. This video takes a look at the early days of Dell, the man and the company benefited from new markets for computers and new distribution channels.
